You should be finishing up researching your persuasive topics and beginning to organize your notes into an outline.  Remember to use the documents posted on Google classroom to help you with your outline.  We will be spending the rest of the week working on outlines and beginning to draft your persuasive essay.

As a friendly reminder, here are the persuasive due dates (also on classroom):

Wednesday, January 18 Working outline of essay

Wednesday, January 25 Rough draft complete

Wednesday, February 1 Polished copy of essay due

Spy Kids (Science)

We are off to a great start this semester! We will continue covering body systems this week as we study the ocular systems and...dissect a cow eye!  I will also introduce the LTP in class this week so that you may begin working on that as well.

You should be getting prepared for mid-year conferences, which begin this Friday, January 20 for my Co-op.  Remember to use the MID-YEAR REQUIREMENTS document to help you prepare.

Happy New Year!

Language Arts

Welcome back! I hope you had a nice, relaxing break and that you are ready to get 2017 going! As we come back from break, we will be beginning our persuasive writing unit.  Persuasive writing plays a significant role in the world.  Want something changed? Think something isn't right? Need people's support for something? Well, persuasive writing and speaking is how you begin that process.

You will have 2 projects to complete in this unit: a persuasive essay and a group created and produced persuasive advertising commercial.  These projects will be introduced in more detail in class and posted in Google Classroom.

I'm looking forward to finishing out 2nd trimester with you all before we change to Seminar as we learn the techniques and tricks that make good persuasive writing.

Welcome back! As we reach the middle of the school year, we will be having our mid-year conferences.  Conferences begin the week of January 23.  Please use the following link to see the requirements for your mid-year conference.  Please let me know how I can help you!
